What is Dhana Jeera Powder?
Dhana jeera powder is ground coriander and cumin seeds, blended together. "Dhana" is coriander and "jeera" is cumin in Hindi and Gujarati, so the English name is simply coriander cumin powder. The usual ratio is 2 parts coriander to 1 part cumin.
It is the base spice of everyday Indian cooking, used in curries, dals, vegetable dishes and marinades more often than any other blend.
Simple breakdown
- Dhana = coriander seeds (not fresh coriander or cilantro leaves)
- Jeera = cumin seeds
- Roasted, then ground together into a fine powder
- Usual ratio: 2:1 coriander to cumin

No. There is no chilli in dhana jeera. It is warm and earthy, not hot.
