Chicken Korma Spice Mix

Chicken Korma Spice Mix

Rich, creamy and gently spiced.

Want a proper chicken korma at home? Our Chicken Korma Spice Mix (korma masala) gives you a thick, nutty, restaurant-style sauce without buying a dozen separate spices. We blend coriander, cumin, garlic and dried ginger with warm whole spices like green cardamom, cloves, star anise and bay leaves. Then we add two traditional korma ingredients: split chickpeas and watermelon seeds. They give the sauce its body and soft, nutty flavour. Cook it with chicken, onion, yoghurt and cream, or use it with lamb or vegetables for a meat-free korma.

Have questions?

What’s in Chicken Korma Spice Mix?

Coriander, cumin, garlic, dry mango, cornflour, red chillies, dried ginger, black cumin, salt, black pepper, onion seeds, turmeric, cloves, green cardamom, bay leaves, star anise, green chilli, split chickpeas and watermelon seeds.

Why are there watermelon seeds and split chickpeas in it?

They’re traditional korma ingredients. Once ground, they thicken the sauce and give it a soft, nutty flavour, so your korma turns out rich and creamy.

Can I make a vegetarian korma with it?

Yes. It works well with paneer, potato, cauliflower, peas or mixed vegetables. Lamb works too.

What’s the difference between korma and butter chicken?

Korma is a mild, nutty curry made with yoghurt and cream, with warm spices like cardamom and cloves. Butter chicken is tomato-based, with a buttery, slightly tangy sauce. If you like butter chicken, try our Butter Chicken Spice Mix too.
